Categories:

Summary

This procedure resets a QuickServer gateway to its factory-released state by using the physical recovery button sequence at boot.

Source document: QuickServer ENOTE (PDF)

Prereqs

  • Physical access to the gateway.
  • Access to power-cycle the gateway.
  • Ability to identify the recovery button (BTN) and Error LED (ERR) on the unit.

Steps

  1. Power down the gateway.
  2. Press and hold the Recovery button (BTN).
  3. While holding the button, apply power to the gateway.
  4. Keep holding until the Error LED (ERR) lights (about 20-30 seconds).
  5. Release the Recovery button.
  6. Wait until the SS LED starts flashing (about 1-3 minutes).

At this point, recovery is complete.

Validation

After recovery, the unit should be on default firmware/configuration and reachable on its default IP for the platform:

  • ProtoAir / ProtoNode: 192.168.1.24
  • QuickServer: 192.168.2.101
  • Other QuickServer units (or older firmware): 192.168.2.100

Troubleshooting

  • If the Error LED does not light, retry the sequence and keep the button held through full power-up.
  • If recovery does not complete, allow a full 3 minutes before retrying.
  • If expected IP does not respond, verify subnet settings on your laptop and test all documented defaults above.
  • If behavior differs from expected, recheck against the source PDF and unit labeling.
