What Toolbox Is
FieldServer Toolbox is a browser-based utility for discovering, configuring, and diagnosing FieldServer and QuickServer gateways on the local network. It runs as a standalone application and communicates with gateways over the local Ethernet segment.
Key Functions
| Function | Description |
|---|---|
| Device discovery | Finds gateways on the local subnet via broadcast |
| Configuration upload | Push configuration files to the gateway |
| Firmware update | Upload new firmware to the gateway |
| Diagnostics | Generate and download diagnostic reports |
| IP configuration | View and change the gateway’s IP settings |
Connectivity Requirements
Toolbox requires direct Layer 2 network access to the gateway. Common connectivity issues:
- Wrong network adapter selected — laptop has multiple adapters (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, VPN)
- Different subnet — Toolbox and gateway are on different IP subnets
- Firewall blocking — corporate firewall blocks Toolbox broadcast or communication ports
- VPN active — VPN routing overrides local network access
[!TIP] If Toolbox can’t find the gateway, start by selecting the correct network adapter manually. See FieldServer Toolbox Connectivity Troubleshooting for a step-by-step diagnostic guide.
